Price your work
Mowing Price Calculator
A price you can explain.
Allow for your time, travel and costs. Then turn it into a quote.
Know what you’re charging for
How much should you charge for mowing?
Start with the work this visit actually involves. Mowing is only part of the day: edging, unloading, clearing clippings and travel all use time. This calculator helps you price that time using your own business assumptions.
- Estimate mowing, edging, setup and allocated travel time.
- Enter your hourly charge, or build one from your annual pay, business costs and productive hours.
- Add any one-off costs and choose a minimum charge.
- Review the breakdown, then use the result in a branded lawn care quote.
It does not look up local prices or promise a market rate. Site access, slope, grass condition, equipment and the agreed scope can change the time and price.
How the calculation works
When you know your hourly charge: price = total minutes ÷ 60 × hourly charge + extra costs. Your minimum charge is applied if it is higher. The hourly charge should already include your pay, overhead and profit; no second margin is added. Extra costs are passed through at cost.
When building a rate: hourly cost = (annual pay + annual business costs) ÷ (working weeks × productive hours per week). Job cost includes all entered time at that hourly cost plus extra costs. Price = job cost ÷ (1 − target profit margin), subject to your minimum charge. Rates and charges round up to cents so rounding does not reduce cost recovery.
Use the same definition of productive time in your annual budget and this job: include work, setup and allocated travel. Avoid counting a disposal fee, fuel cost or wage in both annual costs and job extras. Profit is an estimate after the pay and costs you enter, before business income tax; omitted costs reduce actual profit.
Frequently asked questions
Is the result per visit or per month?
Per visit. Weekly and fortnightly choices carry into your quote, but they do not apply an assumed discount or multiply the price into a monthly figure. If repeat visits take less time, enter that time explicitly.
Does the price include GST, VAT or sales tax?
No. The calculator works before tax. Confirm whether tax applies and enter the applicable rate in the Quote Generator. Use costs excluding tax you can recover, and include unrecoverable tax in your costs.
What if I don’t know my hourly charge?
Choose “Help me work out my rate”. Enter annual pay for your own work, business costs, working weeks, productive hours and a target margin. Allow for unpaid time and downtime. You can adjust any assumption and recalculate.
Is margin the same as markup?
No. A 20% margin on a cost of 80 requires a price of 100: the profit is 20% of the price. A 20% markup on that cost gives a price of 96.
Can I use the price without creating an account?
Yes. Calculate, copy the breakdown and create a branded quote without signup. An account is needed only when you choose to save the quote in Runcina.
Can I save time on future quotes?
Runcina’s quote editor includes the same pricing assistant. It uses the quote’s country, tax settings and available duration. Your cost and rate assumptions remain editable.
